An average Airtel subscriber must at one point or the other heard about or being notified about, ‘Smartcash‘. It’s a payment service bank launched by the network to provide banking services to users seamlessly without them having to visit commercial banks or stress while making transactions such as payment of bills, airtime purchases and so on. As a bank owned by the network, there are special privileges for Airtel subscribers — one of which is, the Smartcash Awoof data offer.
You may be wondering what I mean by smartcash Awoof data offer. So here is a simple breakdown for better understanding of what is being talked about. The Smartcash Awoof data are special data plans; special in the sense that, they are super affordable and also comes with a considerable expiry date.
Sorry for digressing, these data plans are accessible to Airtel users based on eligibility and subscribers who are qualified to purchase the plans can enjoy a whooping 2gb data for just 300 naira, 1.25gb for 200 naira, all valid for 7 days. Judging from how expensive data plans are and the fact that, alot of people are breaking their bank accounts to purchase data, it becomes crystal clear how much of an Awoof the Smartcash data plans are.
Eligibility Criteria for Smartcash Awoof Data
The Smartcash Awoof data like I said earlier is based on eligibility — thus, not everyone is allowed to purchase the plan. While it’s not clear what to expect in terms of the criteria, a subscriber is to meet in order to unlock the plans. One thing is for sure, you can only get access to the data plans if you have a standard i.e. verified Smartcash account.

This is not coming from an official place but the few airtel lines of mine that are eligible for the 2gb for 300 naira plan and other Awoof data offers are all fully enrolled on the Smartcash payment service bank. Therefore, it’s safe to say that, for a user to be eligible for these cheap data offers from Smartcash, you ought to be a verified, and active user of Smartcash.
How to Check Eligibility
The Smartcash Awoof data eligiblity check can be done manually but in most cases, you will receive an SMS notifying you of the plans directly from Smartcash. So if you are eligible, look out for an SMS from the bank confirming your eligibility but if you don’t find one despite being an active user of the bank, then you may have to go with the manual method.
Simply dial, *939*77# to check if you will see the list of plans. If you see the list, then you’re eligible but if you’re not, the prompt that will appear on your screen will immediately notify you of the fact that you’re not yet qualified for the Awoof data.
How to Activate Airtel 2gb for N300
The 2gb for 300 naira data plan is just one out of the three available on most eligible lines. The reason why it’s most popular or perhaps most talked about is, the fact that, it’s unarguably the most enticing.
Giving that, it costs quite a lot to buy 2gb data presently from retailers and even directly from the network. So the plan is very cheap and also comes with a nice validity period. I mean, no active internet user won’t be able to finish 2gb within 7 days validity period.
If you check the plans by dialing *939*77# and find out you’re eligible. The next step would be to recharge your line with the required amount — 300 naira and then redial the code, select the third plan and process to activate it. You will be charged and the data will be added to your balance.
Benefits of the Smartcash Awoof Data
There are numerous benefits or perks of purchasing one of the plans, but before we proceed, bear in mind that, this is not in any way an advertisement for you to start using smartcash nor for you to buy the plans. I just felt the news to talk about the plan because of my readers who may be struggling with purchasing data without spending so much;
1. Good validity period :- while there is no plan on the Awoof data list with up to 30 days validity. The 7 days validity period is just perfect as it is. As an active or even less active Internet user, you should be able to exhaust the data before the allotted validity period. The data allocation isn’t too high, yet the validity is just perfect for it.
2. Affordable :- the term Awoof already sold it out to be a very affordable data offer. Under normal circumstances, 2gb data currently shouldn’t be less than a thousand naira on any bill payment platform. Yet you get it for just 300 naira via Smartcash USSD. The cost of purchasing the data plans makes them one of the most affordable or cheapest data offers in recent times.
3. It can be accumulated :- the Smartcash Awoof data offer — 500mb for N100, 1.25gb for N200 & 2gb for 300 naira can be accumulated to as much as you can afford. Let’s say, the 2gb won’t do so much for you, there is an opportunity for you to continue purchasing the same plan in order to accumulate enough data for whatever you want to do.
The only disadvantage of the accumulation is, the expiry date remains the same regardless of how much you spend on buying more data plans.
4. Auto renewal feature :- another interesting benefit of buying the Awoof data is that, it can be renewed automatically when you buy another before expiry. This actually surprised me because many other promo data offers as this don’t usually come with an auto renewal feature.
Downsides
On the flip side, here are a few downsides or negative aspects of buying the Awoof data you should probably know about, as well;
1. Eligiblity Issues:- if you have a Smartcash account that you’re not actively using, you may also not be eligible for the plans. My Airtel line that is eligible for the Awoof data is the one with a very active and verified account on Smartcash.
I tried so many lines and they all returned the error that the lines are not qualified. Meaning that, the number of users who are even eligible or qualified for the special or affordable data plans are few and to me, this is a downside. Therefore, if you have never created a Smartcash account, don’t get your hopes up.
2. Data Consumption rate :- personally, I don’t really like buying Airtel Data bundles because of the data consumption rate. They tend to deplete data at a much higher rate than other telecommunications network and for that reason, I don’t really have a positive outlook for these Awoof data plans.
Conclusion
I believe you now have have better understanding of the Airtel Smartcash Awoof data plans.At least you now have a better knowledge of how the 2gb for 300 naira data plan works and how to get it activated on your line.
